Late-night texts from Tom Brady helped Buccaneers believe they could win Super Bowl

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers did not have much Super Bowl experience prior to Sunday night. However, they did have Tom Brady, who is now a seven-time Super Bowl champion, on their side. Apparently, he played a significant role in keeping the Buccaneers confident ahead of the big game.
Following the Bucs’ 31-9 win over the Kansas City Chiefs, running back Leonard Fournette revealed that Brady was texting players throughout the week to keep their spirits up.
“It felt great. Just knowing his résumé and understand why he wins. All week he made us believe we were going to win,” Fournette said, according to WEEI’s Ryan Hannable. “He was texting us at 11 o’clock at night, ‘We will win this game.’ We believed in him. We believed in the play-calling, what the coaches were calling and we just ran with it.”

Those late-night texts helped the Buccaneers perform on both sides of the ball. The Tampa Bay offense finished with 340 total yards. Fournette led the way with 89 yards and a touchdown on the ground while Rob Gronkowski led the passing game with six catches for 67 yards and two touchdowns.
Brady finished 21-of-29 for 201 yards and three touchdowns.
The defense, meanwhile, held Patrick Mahomes to 270 yards and no touchdowns. Mahomes also threw two interceptions and was sacked several times.
